Antoine F. Goetschel, J.D. and Dr. h.c., in addition to his Zurich law firm, has been dedicated to the promotion of animal welfare through the law for some forty years, as co-author of the legal comments on Swiss and German Animal Welfare Act, (co-)author of over twelve books on animals in law and ethics in Switzerland and now, as President of the Global Animal Law GAL Association (www.globalanimallaw.org), globally. GAL offers worldwide unique proposals for a better legal situation for animals on the levels of law making, law applying and education from local to national and to global in the GAL MATRIX (https://www.globalanimallaw.org/matrix/index.html) and leads one of the worldwide abundant database on national up to global animal welfare acts (https://www.globalanimallaw.org/database/index.html). In 1995, he established the Swiss Foundation for Animals in Law (Tier im Recht) with its public library of over 24,000 books and essays on animals in law and ethics and its database of over 30,000 criminal animal protection cases in Switzerland and headed it until 2007. From then until 2010, he was the worldwide only “Attorney for Animal Protection in Criminal Matters” in the Canton of Zurich elected by the Government Council at the suggestion of animal protection organizations. With his team, he has drafted and is working towards the realization of a draft convention on animal protection and health in the United Nations (www.uncahp.org), and is dedicated, beyond global law, to the creation of formal “animal lawyers” in criminal and administrative proceedings, among other fields in animal law and animal friendly investments.

Jill S. Goldman is a genetic counselor at The Taub Institute at Columbia University Medical Center where she serves in the Center of Excellence for Alzheimer’s Disease. She specializes in hereditary neurological diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease, frontotemporal degeneration, Parkinson’s disease, and Huntington’s disease. She has worked as a genetic counselor since 2000; before that, she was a health education specialist and science teacher. Goldman serves on the steering committee of the Columbia University Center of Excellence Center in Ethical, Legal, and Social Implications of Psychiatric, Neurologic, and Behavioral Genetics, and is a member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC), a member of the American Academy of Neurology, and an appointed member of the Medical Advisory Committee of the Association for Frontotemporal Dementia. Additionally, she leads two support groups—one for caregivers of people with frontotemporal dementia and the other for people living with early stage dementia. She also created and coordinates “A Friend for Rachel,” a companionship program in which people with early to moderate dementia are paired with Columbia pre-medical students. Goldman has authored many papers and book chapters including: “Genetic counseling and testing for Alzheimer’s disease: joint practice guidelines of the American College of Medical Genetics and the National Society of Genetic Counselors” and “New approaches to genetic counseling and testing for Alzheimer’s disease and frontotemporal degeneration.” Publications

Dr. Iuliia Dakhno holds a PhD in Veterinary Parasitology from the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine in Kyiv, where she also taught practical parasitology courses. She graduated with honors from Sumy National Agrarian University and began her veterinary career at the Sumy State Veterinary Clinic. Her doctoral research focused on ELISA-based diagnosis of Dirofilaria repens in dogs and was recognized as a significant contribution to veterinary science in Ukraine. Dr. Dakhno is the author of several scientific publications and continues to conduct research on diagnostic methods for parasitic diseases.

Dr. Hans Ulrich Graber is a Swiss veterinary scientist with a distinguished career spanning nearly four decades. Born in Thun, Switzerland in 1958, he earned his veterinary degree and later a PhD (Dr. med. vet.) from the University of Bern. His expertise lies in mastitis research, molecular biology, and clinical veterinary medicine. Dr. Graber led the National Reference Laboratory for Coagulase-Positive Staphylococci and Staphylococcus aureus and was head of mastitis research at Agroscope under the Swiss Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research. He has held key research and academic roles at the University of Bern, Inselspital, and Agroscope. His postdoctoral work and laboratory leadership have contributed significantly to veterinary medicine, particularly in ruminant health. Now retired, he continues as an advisor in mastitis research. Outside of science, Dr. Graber enjoys classical music, piano playing, and history. He is widowed with two adult children and resides in Bern, Switzerland.

Li Xiangling is a Ph.D. in Animal Science at Guangxi University, specializing in metabolic regulation. Her research focuses on the intersections of Diabetes mellitus, Ageing, Ferroptosis, and Immunity. She has authored a first-author publication in a JCR Q2 SCI-indexed journal and has three additional manuscripts currently under peer review. Dr. Wen-Chi Lin is a Project Lecturer in the Department of Veterinary Medicine at National Pingtung University of Science and Technology. Giuseppe Bee is a distinguished animal scientist based at Agroscope Posieux, Switzerland, with over three decades of expertise in animal nutrition and meat quality research. He holds a Master’s (1987) and Ph.D. (1993) in Animal Science from ETH Zurich, where his doctoral work focused on nutrient content and fatty acid patterns in pig carcasses. Dr. Bee has served as a researcher and lecturer at ETH Zurich, and since 2003, he has led the Pig Research Group at Agroscope. His research explores dietary amino acids, growth efficiency, feeding behavior, and prenatal impacts on meat quality. Dr. Bee coordinates international projects like MSCA ETN MonoGutHealth and supervises Ph.D. students while lecturing at ETH Zurich on Pig Science and Non-Ruminant Nutrition. An author of 100+ peer-reviewed articles, he serves as Editor-in-Chief of animal – open space and Vice-President of the Animal Task Force, making significant contributions to sustainable livestock systems worldwide.

Dr. Joanna Wessely-Szponder is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Life Sciences in Lublin, Poland, with nearly three decades of academic and research experience. She earned her DVM in 1993 and went on to complete her PhD in 2006 and ScD in 2018, focusing on cytokines, neutrophil peptides, and immune responses in veterinary pathology. Her research specializes in antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) derived from natural sources, particularly neutrophil extracts, and their role in immunomodulation, inflammation, and regenerative medicine. She has extensively studied the interaction of AMPs with leukocytes, biomaterials, and their application in surgical healing. Dr. Wessely-Szponder has published widely on topics including osteoarthritis, wound healing, oxidative stress, and biomaterial biocompatibility. Her work continues to influence advances in veterinary immunology and tissue repair.

Following graduation from the U.S.A.M.V. Iaşi, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Silviu-Ionuț Borș applied to be accepted to the same institution's PhD program. In 2007, he was accepted into the full-time doctoral program at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Iaşi, where he focused on obstetrics and veterinary andrology. He applied for the post of Scientific Veterinarian Researcher at the Research and Development Station for Cattle Breeding, Dancu, Romania after completing the Ph.D. program. Since his initial start in 2011, he had stayed in this role. He has worked as a farm veterinarian at this institution, actively participating in the current treatments of farm animals and conducting monthly gynecological surveys in addition to approaching a variety of dairy cow-specific research problems. At the moment, Dr. Borș Silviu-Ionuț is in charge of research activities as the Scientific Director of the Research and Development Station for Cattle Breeding in Dancu, Iași, Romania.

Dr. Anna Gajda is Head of the Laboratory of Bee Diseases at the Institute of Veterinary Medicine, Warsaw University of Life Sciences, and a veterinarian specializing in honeybee health with 17 years of beekeeping experience. Her research focuses on managed and wild pollinator health, pathogen interactions, and spillover effects shaping pollinator ecosystems. As an educator, she teaches veterinary students in Polish and English and actively engages in outreach, raising awareness on pollinator health through conferences, beekeeper meetings, and advisory work for veterinarians and beekeepers across Europe. She frequently publishes in popular beekeeping journals, ensuring practitioners stay updated on bee health management. A strong advocate for women in science, she offers hands-on research opportunities in her Honeybee Diseases Lab. Internationally, she served eight years on the CoLoss Executive Committee and contributes to national and European networks. She also co-authored the Polish National Pollinator Protection Strategy and several scientific publications.

Professor Abdelmalik Khalafalla is a highly accomplished microbiologist with a rich and diverse background in academia, research, and international organizations. He obtained his doctorate from the University of Khartoum in 1997. He furthered his expertise during an Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship in Tübingen, Germany, from April 2001 to January 2003.His career has seen significant milestones, including serving as the head of the Microbiology Department at the University of Khartoum, head of the Camel Development Program at the Arab Centre for the Studies on Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD) in Syria. He served as president of the International Society for Camelid Research and Development (ISOCARD) from 2012 to 2015. He is an expert at the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) and a memberof three ad hoc groups focusing on Camelid Diseases, PPR Status of Countries, and MERS-CoV.He is the Chair of the PPR Global Research and Expertise Network (PPR-GREN) Bureau of the Joint FAO and WOAH Global Eradication Program.Presently, he serves asa Biosecurity Expert at Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority in the United Arab Emirates.

Yu Jingsu, a Ph.D. candidate in Animal Science at Guangxi University, specializes in metabolic regulation and targeted therapeutics. His research spans fatty liver diseases, diabetes mellitus, bioinformatics, and drug targeting. He has authored a JCR Q2 SCI-indexed paper as first author and co-authored a Q3 publication as co-first author, with four additional manuscripts under peer review. Prof. dr hab. Janusz Pawęska (retired) has been a part of international research expeditions and responses to highly formidable epidemics in Africa, including Ebola, Marburg, and Rift Valley fever outbreaks. During a fatal nosocomial outbreak in Johannesburg in 2008 he led the discovery of a new arenavirus, he named Lujo virus. He established and operated the South African mobile laboratory response to the Ebola epidemic in West Africa (Sierra Leone, 2014-2015) as a part of international efforts to bring this unprecedented outbreak under control. His joint expertise in veterinary science, medical science, and particularly in virology, immunology and epidemiology make significant contributions in the field of emerging and remerging zoonotic pathogens, improving our knowledge of their epidemiology, ecology, pathogenesis, control and prevention, development of diagnostics, therapeutics and vaccines and operationalization of One Health programmes and training in Africa.

Full Professor of the Department of Animal Medicine and Surgery of the Veterinary Faculty of Barcelona (Spain). Director of the Equine Reproduction Service in the same Faculty, authorized center for equine genetic material production (semen, oocytes and embryos), were he works daily in equine reproduction.He is involved in research projects on equine and, specially, on donkey reproduction in diferent countries. Dr. Fang-Chia Chang, Ph.D., is a distinguished academician at National Taiwan University, serving as a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Director of the Neurobiology and Cognitive Science Center. He holds pivotal roles as Chair of the Taiwan International Graduate Program in Interdisciplinary Neuroscience and Executive Supervisor of the Taiwan Society of Sleep Medicine. Maise Macário holds a Ph.D. in Sciences (2024) from the Federal University of Sergipe, with a background in Animal Science (B.Sc. and M.Sc., 2016). She is a faculty member in the Veterinary Medicine program at UNINASSAU Aracaju, where she teaches courses such as Animal Nutrition, Animal Production, and Biostatistics. Dr. Chunping Shen is a Chief Physician specializing in Dermatology and Venereology at Beijing Children's Hospital, Capital Medical University. She obtained her M.D. from Hebei Medical University and completed her postgraduate studies at Capital Medical University. With over 15 years of clinical experience, Dr. Shen focuses on pediatric dermatology, particularly the long-term management of atopic dermatitis. Dr. Manzar Abbas (Ph.D.) is an R&D Manager at the Inner Mongolia Saikexing Institute of Breeding and Reproductive Biotechnology in Domestic Animal, Hohhot, China. Previously, he served as an Assistant Professor (2020–2023) at Yibin University, China. He earned his B.Sc. (Hons.) in Agriculture (Agri-Biotechnology) and M.Phil. in Biotechnology from the University of Agriculture Faisalabad, Pakistan, followed by a Ph.D. in Tree Genetics and Breeding by Molecular Design from Beijing Forestry University, China. Prof. Dr. Omaima Kandil is the head of the Department of Animal Reproduction & A.I. at the National Research Centre (NRC) in Egypt, where she specializes in embryo and reproductive biotechnology. She earned her veterinary degree from Cairo University in 1982, followed by a Master’s in 1988 and a Ph.D. in 1992. A full professor since 2002, Dr. Kandil has received numerous awards, including the National Egyptian Award for Women in Agriculture and Food (2020) and the National Egyptian Award in Progressive Biotechnology (2001). She has led significant projects, notably pioneering buffalo embryo transfer in Egypt. Dr. Kandil has supervised 30 theses, published 200 peer-reviewed papers, and served as a principal investigator for various national and international collaborative projects. Additionally, she has organized multiple conferences and training programs, contributing substantially to veterinary science and international cooperation in the field.

Dr. Saeed Hassani is a Iranian professor specializing in animal breeding and genetics. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore, India, where his research focused on genetic analysis in crossbred dairy cattle. With a robust academic foundation that includes a Master’s and Bachelor’s in animal science, Dr. Hassani has been actively engaged in quantitative genetics, genomic selection, and statistical analysis of economic traits in livestock.
